The Center for Economic Initiatives (CEI) offers Information Technology (IT) study tours to Bengalooru (formerly Bangalore), India, for IT specialists and companies wishing to join this dynamic industry.
Why Bengalooru
Bengalooru is widely recognized as a leading center for IT hardware and software development and for its client support call centers. The growth of Bengalooru in the past few years has been nothing short of phenomenal. Blessed with a pleasant climate and a large pool of educated engineers, the area has grown beyond all expectations. Bengalooru has about 1,000 IT companies, from small, new, start-up companies to large global companies. For example, it is home to two of the largest Indian IT companies, Wipro and Infosys, which operate worldwide with additional centers in other cities in India as well as in North America, Europe, Japan and China.
Aided by infrastructure development sponsored by the governments of India and Singapore, Bengalooru companies communicate with clients worldwide via satellite and high-speed fiber optic land lines. The landscape is dotted with large, gleaming, new towers housing engineers from Intel, IBM, Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard, Accenture, Tata Consulting, General Electric, Dell and many of the world’s major corporations. Their client base includes most of the world’s telecommunications companies such as Nokia, Ericsson, and Motorola. Many of the world’s largest banks perform their overnight processing in Bengalooru. Call centers for most large technology companies operate out of Bengalooru. This is where the IT action is!
